Smartphone Sales Fell in 2017

CNBC reports here that worldwide smartphone sales fell in 2017 relative to 2016.  This is the first drop in smartphone sales in history.

Autonomous Cars Must Be Hand Washed

CNN reports here on the cleaning protocol for autonomous vehicles.  The cars require frequent clearing to avoid clogged sensors.  But they are too fragile to be washed by traditional methods.

Tesla Cloud Servers Compromised

Tom’s Hardware reports here on a hack of Tesla’s cloud servers.  The hack was designed to allow unauthorized cryptomining but it exposed sensitive car data.  The initial vector was through a Kubernetes console that was not password-protected.

Power and Thermal Management Experiments

Tom’s Hardware reports here on an interesting set of power/thermal experiments using Ryzen CPUs.  These experiments clearly show how power/thermal management systems on these chips control clock frequency to manage power consumption and thermal performance.
